Fairtrade - Guarantees a better deal for Third World Producers

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay above market prices, Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their lot and have more control over their lives.

For 500,000 workers and farmers in the developing world, Fairtrade means better terms of trade and decent production conditions. The Fairtrade Foundation, with its partners, maintains these standards by regularly inspecting third world suppliers, and checking contracts and trade terms.

Decaffeinated Colombian Fairtrade - NEW

The Colombian coffee is decaffeinated by the solvent method. Most consumers drink this coffee because lack of caffeine can improve sleep and eliminate palpilations in some people. The usual content of approx 1.5% caffeine is reduced to below 0.1%. Although the taste on the light roast can produce more acidity than standard coffee, the darker roast produces a flavour more akin to a regular Colombian. Good body with distinctive flavour. Can also be dark roasted to use as an espresso coffee/

Brazilian Fairtrade
The family groups of Iuna and Irupi joined together in 1989, having a need to create community associations. Now 20 associations make up the FACI Cooperative; 750 families doing a variety of jobs produce 13,000 sacks of coffee per year. Through their association with the Fairtrade Federation they are able to sustain a higher standard of living and greater investment in the crops.

This coffee is a special pulp washed Brazilian which produces a rich, fruity flavour with lots of body and aftertaste - bringing you all the excitement of Mardi Gras!

This coffee is grown in the area of La Central near to the Mayan ruins at Copan, close to the Guatemala border. This is a small mellow coffee with very little acidity.
